Troop Leadership Training
Saturday, July 12 @ Noon.
This troop-level training will take 3-4 hours. All Scouts with positions of responsibility for the July-December 2008 term should attend, though we definitely need the SPL and Patrol Leaders to be there. It's essential that our new leaders are trained before summer camp so, if possible, we'll try to schedule a make-up day before summer camp. Scouts should come in complete uniform with proper insignia. Scouts must bring their BSA Handbooks, a notebook (which they should have with them at all troop activities) and a pen(cil). Lunch will be provided. Thanks.

Cub Scout Day Camp
July 21-25 @ Fox Point State Park.
Come join the fun with our Cub Scouts at Day Camp. Volunteers are needed to help in various activities. Come for a half day, a whole day or the whole week. To volunteer please e-mail Matt Jones at mjones@dmvc.org or call him at (302) 622-3300 ext. 123.

Troop Meeting
Thursday, July 31 @ 7:00 PM.
This meeting is only required for those attending summer camp. Bring your current medical forms. Please do not assume that I have a valid form on file, however if I do you can provide current guardian signature during the meeting. Medical forms are due at the July 31 troop meeting.  Scouts must also complete and bring any merit badge prerequisites; if prerequisites are not done completed you will not be able to take the badges you've signed up for. We'll review the program features and schedule. Scouts will fill out blue cards and make gear and other patrol preparations. Adults will review medical forms and transportation. Scouts should wear their full uniforms to be inspected (make sure they're complete and all insignia is current and correctly placed).

Summer Camp 2008
August 10-16 @ Rodney Scout Reservation.
Download program descriptions, schedules, and gear lists here.

NEW Official BSA Centennial Uniform!
In August the new uniform goes on sale. Made of more comfortable materials, bellowed pockets, new hat and belt designs, better socks, and more outdoor-friendly accents. Don't worry, though! Existing uniforms will still be considered official until they're outworn or outgrown. The only changes we'll be implementing at the troop level (effective 9/1) is the use of the forest green shoulder loops and troop numerals. As you outgrow and/or outwear your existing uniform you'll replace items with the new uniform components. Scouts in Troop 70 are to attend all troop meetings and activities in complete uniform. More info is available here.

Trail to Eagle Meeting
Wednesday, September 17 @ 7:00 PM at Limestone Presbyterian Church. Frequently asked questions will be addressed concerning Eagle Scout Leadership Service Projects, the Eagle Scout application, the Eagle Scout Board of Review, etc. Who should attend? Scouts who are First Class and above who are on the trail to Eagle especially those thinking about Eagle Service Projects, parents of Scouts on the trail to Eagle, and Eagle Mentors.

Florida Sea Base 2009
One spot is still available for any eligible Scout or adult; let me know if interested. $300.00 was due last week in order to secure airline tickets. If you did not turn in your $300 please mail your check to Mr. Jamie King ASAP.
