Environmental Science MB

November 15 @ Academy of Natural Sciences
Under the direction of the Academy's merit badge counselors, Scouts will be guided through a series of experiments and hands-on activities. This intensive workshop will provide Scouts with the majority of the requirements for completion of this Eagle-required badge. The field study (Requirement 4) must be done on your own prior to the event (
use this worksheet). Cost is $16.50 per Scout. Please sign up with Mrs. Morris.

Camping: Ockanickon Scout Reservation (COPE / Hiking)
November 21-23, 2008
Younger Scouts will spent the weekend camping and day hiking and working on advancement. Experienced Scouts will participate in COPE. $15.00 due November 6. Another $30 due for those participating in COPE.

Troop Lock-In @ Silverside Church
December 12-13, 2008
Scouts will spend the night playing games and watching movies. Dinner and breakfast will be served. $10.00 due December 11.

Camping: Hawk Mt. Scout Reservation (Indoor Rockclimbing)
December 19-21, 2008
Scouts will sleep in a cabin and spend the day Saturday climbing at a nearby rock gym. Saturday night will feature a holiday feast and the annual Greedy Gift Exchange, for which each participant should bring a wrapped gift costing $10.00. $15.00 for food and additional climbing fees will be due on December 4.

Camping: Horseshoe Scout Reservation (Frostbite)
January 23-25, 2009
Scouts will brave the cold at Horseshoe while camping in lean-tos. Activities will include firebuilding, cooking and hiking. $15.00 due January 8.

Merit Badge College 2009
January 10 & February 28, 2009 @ George Reed Middle School.
A great opportunity to complete merit badges that you don’t get to do at summer camp or during the troop year. Eagle-required badges are open to Scouts who will be 14-years or older. Please refer to the attachments, including the badges offered and the registration form. Turn in registration by November 20 with your check payable to BSA Troop #70 in the amount of $10.00. Also, if there’s a parent who’s willing to coordinate this it would be extremely helpful.

Troop members and their families will participate in Silverside Church's morning service.

Scouting for Food
Saturday, February 2009 @ Super G
Scouts will collect canned goods in front of Super G on Concord PIke. Scouts will work in pairs for one hour shifts from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Collected goods will be given to Jewish Family Services.

Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, February 14, 2009
Tickets will be sold over a period of four months. All proceeds go toward the purchase of a troop trailer in support of our camping program.

Camping: Rodney Scout Reservation (Gold Rush Derby)
February 20-22, 2009
Scouts will sleep in Minsi cabin and compete against other local troops. $20.00 due on February 5.

Scout Ski Day
Sunday, March 1, 2009 @ Jack Frost.
Scouts and family members will spend the day skiing and snowboarding the slopes at Jack Frost.

Camping: Lums Pond (TBD) Tentative
March 13-15, 2009.

Camping: Broad Creek Scout Reservation (Survivor) Tentative
April 3-5, 2009
Scouts will camp in Adirondack shelters in Camp Saffran and compete as patrols and individuals for the title of Survivor, earning a monetary prize that will be awarded at the June Court of Honor. $20 due on March 19.

Nentego Lodge 20 Spring Inductions Weekend
April 2009 @ Rodney Scout Reservation
Come share in service and fellowship. Ordeal candidates may complete their inductions; Brotherhood candidates may complete their conversion. Register online.

Camping: French Creek State Park (Orienteering)
May 1-3, 2009
Scouts from area troops will complete in the Delaware Valleyl Orienteering Association's (DVOA) Mid-Atlantic Scouting Orienteering Championship (MASOC). $20.00 due on April 16.

OA Section NE-6A Conclave
May 15-17, 2009 @ Camp Snyder
Scouts from area Lodges will meet for fun and fellowship.

Troop Planning Session
August 28, 2008 @ 6:00 PM at Silverside Church
Troop leadership set goals and laid out plans for the new Scouting year and had the PLC for September. Those in attendance were:

Trail to Eagle Meeting
September 17, 2008 @ 7:00 PM at Limestone Presbyterian Church
Frequently asked questions were addressed concerning Eagle Scout Leadership Service Projects, the Eagle Scout application, the Eagle Scout Board of Review, etc.

Camping: Cape Henlopen State Park
September 19-21, 2008
Scouts camp in tents in the primitive youth group area and enjoyed the sun and surf while conducting a safe swim activity on Saturday. We also completed a service project in the park, hiked, and plalyed disc golf. Those in attendance were:

Camping: Granogue (Freedom Trail Disctrict Camporee)
October 10-12, 2008
Scouts camped in tents and completed requirements for the Emergency Preparedness BSA award, as well as Emergency Preparedness merit badge. Those in attendance were:

Nentego Lodge 20 Fall Inductions Weekend
October 24-26, 2008 @ Henson Scout Reservation
Ordeal candidates completed their inductions; Brotherhood candidates complete their conversion. All enjoyed fellowship and performed cheerful service. Those in attendance were:

Silverside Church Craft Fair & Flea Market
November 1, 2008 @ Silverside Church
Scouts will help to set up on Friday and to clean and pack up at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
